Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund Charges Past Milestone

February 28, 2020 By Christine

This past October at Hideaway Hills Golf Club 64 golfers and volunteers enjoyed a delicious celebration cake recognizing the 2,089,996 miles of transportation provided to local families traveling in search of solutions to critical needs. Many of these families are traveling in unfamiliar surroundings seeking help for their children. The “Miles that Matter” initiative is one of the three missions of the Fund.  It represents the caring nature we all felt in Krysta.  Her willingness to give is represented in our focus on the benefits of Organ Donation. Her life mission of learning and personal development is represented in our Leadership Scholarships. Approximately one third of the more than $200,000 raised over the past nine years comes from golf events. Most of our funding is from a very, very caring community.

Our “Miles that Matter” mission provides GIANT gift cards to families in support of their travel needs.  We are proud of our partnership with GIANT’s Cash for Causes Program because we qualify to purchase gift cards at a five percent discount.  In the past ten years, over $200,000 in gift cards have been purchased from GIANT.  Many of our donors are happy to learn that their donations increase by a few percent.

The two-million-mile mark passed in October 2019 was supercharged during this past Holiday Season.  Through the Morning Call “Be an Angel” program, local charities can submit a three item wish list.  The KHMF wished for gift cards, raffle prize items, and monetary donations.  Over $10,000 was donated and with the GIANT discount increases the mileage to over 2.2 million miles.  The Holiday giving puts us well on our way to obtain our 2020 goal of reaching 2.5 million miles in support of local families in need.

You can join this worthy effort by golfing, sponsorships or donating prize items.

A New Bike for Malakai

January 5, 2018 By Christine

The Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund recently had the pleasure to celebrate our partnership with Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union members and administrators by donating an adaptive tryke and helmet to Malikai. Since his Brachial Plexius injury, received at birth, he’s needed surgeries and physical therapy to develop strength and the range of motion of his arm. His therapists at Cindy Miles and Associates worked with him on his new specialized hand tryke . This will improve these skills while having fun! He was so excited to ride his tryke and was so happy he could take it home to ride. A big thank you to a caring Lehigh Valley community!

Kristin Kohler of LVECU is pictured with Bill and Chris Hankee, Malikai on his new tryke and his mother Lourdes. Malikai received his new ride at Cindy Miles and Associates coordinated by Lehigh Valley Steelforce.

Richard & Roper

Thank you supporters of the Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund Gas Gift Card Program! You provided fuel for an eight year old named Richard and his family to travel to Xenia, Ohio and return with Roper, Richard’s Service Dog trained at 4 Paws for Ability. Bill and Chris Hankee were invited to visit Roper at his new home in Coopersburg where he lives with Richard and his family. Roper can predict seizures and help Richard overcome tense moments. Roper is a beautiful specially trained poodle/lab mix who spent 9 months with a host/training family before meeting and joining Richard’s family.Helping Richard’s family is a celebration of your kindness! Thanks again! Check out the wonderful work of this agency: http://4pawsforability.org/

Miles that Matter at the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union

July 8, 2014 By Christine

During the month of June, the Lehigh Valley Educators Credit Union received donations to post pink cars and “Pave the the Way”  to help local families! The Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund used the donations to purchase gas cards and donated them to the Lehigh Valley Pediatric Cancer Foundation who will identify local families needing help with medical transportation. The donations collected from members were matched by Credit Union. The Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund put in the few remaining dollars needed to reach a grand total of $1,000.00

LVECU3Thanks to LVECU’s Marketing & Business Development Director, Kristen Koehler and her staff, Credit Union members and friends, for supporting us and working together to help provide the Lehigh Valley Pediatric Cancer Foundation with gas cards for families with medical transportation needs. Your generosity will provide over 7,000 miles of driving!

The Patricia Bostick Dance Center presented the Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund with money raised and handmade cards created by the dance students during their PajamaStudents Dance fundraiser. The money raised was more than matched by the Fund and $1000 in gas cards was given to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, Inc. for families traveling for treatment. Coordinated by Trish Dilg of Paper Bag Child, this shows what a little from so many can accomplish. Thank you to all the dancers who participated and for businesses like Patricia Bostick Dance Studio who continue to give back. Special thanks to Patricia for helping her young dancers not only develop their art of dance but also learn important life lessons through this community service event.Working together
