“I do believe your angel brought you here this week, and wanted to share the first story of the distribution of the fuel/grocery cards. A Veteran family was referred here this morning, staying in a hotel. This family came up here from North Carolina, and is staying in a room paid for by another party until they can begin permanent employment in the next two weeks. This family left Fayetteville due to not being able to secure employment, and has no current income. The Veteran served over three years in Iraq and he, his wife, and two little girls turned to us being referred to us by a former staff here. They start employment next week, and they are driving all over to intake appointments, the VA, and looking at properties. Their third party could no longer pay for their room beginning Saturday, 6/4. LVCIL will be paying for a week at another hotel, and provided them with $100.00 in Giant cards provided by your Memorial Fund so they can attend appointments and go to see apartments over the weekend. This Veteran will be connected to the Lehigh Valley VA Clinic, and he will also be seeing Doctors here in the Valley.
I just wanted to share this story, because this family asked for nothing coming here. They had no idea LVCIL could provide a security or rent, or even pay for a room. I knew they had no food to place in the hotel fridge, so I asked them to please buy for the week until we could get them into housing. Fingers crossed, we will have them moving in a place next weekend! I will keep you updated on this family. I just wanted to say thank you for those cards, this family is also grateful as well! A huge thank you to the Krysta Hankee Memorial Fund, and the guiding angel!”
